I sent mailings to all ICEC members in Region VII.
Springfield Chapter 102 has elected new officers and is busy planning for this school year.
MacMurray Chapter #478 continues to be active under their advisor, Dawn Allred.
Jacksonville Chapter 99 continues to be a very active chapter. Speakers for this year will include: Dr. Steve Lillpop (Children on Medication), Rick Van Acker (ADHD) , Bev Johns (RTI), Mary English (Children and Poverty), and Marty Murphy (Autism). Look for Chapter 99’s schedule on the ICEC website.
Ideas that Chapter 99 has used to encourage both CEC membership and attendance at meetings:
1. Give $15 rebates to members (students - $30) who join CEC or renew at a meeting.
2. Give discounts to members who attend meetings. (Each of our workshops including a meal costs members $10 and non-members $25)
3. Offer scholarships to ICEC convention.
4. Encourage regular ed teachers, paraprofessionals, students, and parents to attend our workshops.
5. Award both CPDU’s and certificates.
6. Display poster (with business card ads) which shows our schedule for year at all schools
