Reflections on
2007 - 2008 |
|
The IDEC Governing Board has been pleased with the level of communication that has been in place this year between the IDEC Vice President, Dr. Young, and the ICEC Governing Board. Regular reports on IDEC activities and input on various professional issues have been provided to the ICEC board through electronic and verbal reports, e-mail and participation in 4/5 ICEC Governing Board Meetings. Also, information about ICEC activities have also been faithfully shared with the IDEC Board members as well. The IDEC wants to express appreciation for the posting of the recent IDEC newsletter article on Preschool RtI ("Recognition and Response") on the ICEC website under "Government". We are looking forward to finding additional ways to promote DEC "Recommended Practices" in the future as well. Dr. Young will continue to represent the IDEC on the ICEC for the 2008-2009 year. |

Suggestions and
Recommendations |
|
Proposed Goals:
1. Continue to work collaboratively with the new ICEC Board and the new IDEC Board to meet the needs of both organizations' members.
2. Specifically, continue serving as an effective and efficient communication link between the two organizations to ensure that (1) IDEC members' needs are meet and their voices are heard within the ICEC organizational structure and (2) professional issues addressed by ICEC Governing Board are shared with the IDEC Governing Board.
3. Continue involvement in planning for ICEC Fall 2008 Conference; look to maintaining involvement for Spring 2008 and Fall 2009 and Spring 2009 so that the needs of IDEC members may be addressed through this professional development opportunity and the many talented people in IDEC have a forum for sharing their wonderful skills and knowledge to benefit our constituents.
4. Promote policies that would ensure that print and electronic media publications include up-to-date postings and articles. Also, work to develop policies that differentiate between factually accurate postings/articles and those that are more "editorial" in nature.
5. Keep ICEC Governing Board members apprised as to the planning for the Share-A-Vision Conference (October 2009 in Lombard). Support involvement in the planning process from ICEC Board Members. |
